We're building our leadership team

Updated: May 13

Applications now open for the CEO and first three independent directors.

Chief Executive Officer

The CEO position is a strategic leadership position, requiring vision, energy, and an innovative and entrepreneurial approach. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with highly developed skills in stakeholder engagement, experience in establishing processes and systems, a strong understanding of the disability community and an ability to represent the new entity to the general public.

The NDRP has a strong preference that the successful candidate be a person with disability.

This appointment is for 2 years to guide the establishment of the NDRP. It is initially a work from home position that can be done from anywhere in Australia, though the CEO may choose to establish an office.

Applications close 20 May 2024.

Independent Directors

The Board will be made up of majority of people with disability. We are looking to fill six independent director positions. The first three will be nominated by Disability Representative Organisations (DROs) through a process coordinated by Disability Advocacy Network Australia.

Applications close 2 June 2024.

Chair of the Board

The Chair is a high-profile position with significant influence. We are looking for someone to fill the Chair role who:

  • is a person with disability,

  • has experience at board level in not-for-profit or government organisations, and

  • understands research, research impact and knowledge translation.

The Chair must be independent of government; that is, not employed by a Commonwealth, state or territory government.

The applications will be assessed and shortlisted by Australia’s Disability Strategy - Advisory Council (the Advisory Council). The Advisory Council’s recommendations will be provided to the Minister for Social Services, the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, for her consideration.

Applications closed 13 May 2024.
