DEVELOPING THE RESEARCH AGENDA
NDRP Research Agenda was developed in collaboration with people with disability, their representative organisations and allies, over two years from 2021-2023. It built on key initiatives and underwent a three-phase agenda setting process to develop a preliminary research agenda. The preliminary research agenda was published and more feedback was sought, to develop the final agenda.

1. Background
Developed the NDRP Principles and built on key frameworks and initiatives including:
-
United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability
-
Audit of Disability Research 2014 and 2017
-
2011 National Disability Research Agenda.

2. Agenda setting
The NDRP Working Party commissioned a three-phased agenda setting project. Led by the University of Sydney with a consortium of partners:
-
Mapping recent Australian research related to people with disability
-
Consult with people with disability and a range of other stakeholders to identify key issues
-
Synthesise and refine findings from the first two phases.

3. Preliminary research agenda
A subcommittee of the NDRP Working Party mapped findings from agenda setting project to Australia’s Disability Strategy outcome areas. The Preliminary Research Agenda was released in July 2022.
4. Feedback & targeted consultations
Feedback on the topics in the preliminary research agenda was invited through an open online form and targeted consultation workshops. This targeted engagement was to reach groups of people with disability who weren’t well represented in the initial consultation process to inform the research agenda. Supported by the Social Deck.
5. Final NDRP Research Agenda
Additional topics and feedback from the consultation incorporated to reach the final NDRP Research Agenda.
The NDRP Research Agenda will guide the NDRP’s investment in research and is designed to be flexible and responsive.
